More details about the next game in the Call of Duty series have leaked.
I personally loved the brilliant Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It was my first FPS experience for the PS3, and I kind of got addicted. CoD4 was developed by Infinity Ward, the same people who developed CoD and CoD2. However, CoD3 was developed by Treyarch, and CoD3 doesn’t have that same quality feel. I haven’t really played CoD3 a lot, but I have tried the Wii version, but that was enough to feel the difference. CoD3 haven’t gotten the same amount of good reviews as the other installments in the CoD series.
CoD5 will be developed by Treyarch, and because of that I really don’t have high expectations. After all, Infinity Ward sort of set a new standard in FPS gaming with CoD4. Before CoD4 I really didn’t like FPS games for consoles, but then came Infinity Wards masterpiece, and now I enjoy them a lot.
Enough with CoD4. As stated earlier, news about CoD5 have been leaked, and can be found various places on the Internet. The title will supposedly be Call of Duty: World at War. According to Shacknews, CoD5 will have a co-op-feature and multiplayer vehicles will be present. It has also been confirmed that CoD5 will be set in WWII, but not in the same way as previous WWII-games. It will be set in the Pacific Theater, which I think is rather exciting. CoD5 will be multi platform, and they have gotten the CoD4-engine up and running for the Wii version, which could be interesting. I have yet not seen a good FPS game for the Wii. Also, there will be a separate team developing the Wii version.

Apparently, most people are sick of games about WWII, which can be understandable. However, this is one of the first next generation WWII games, if not the first. As for myself, I haven’t really played a lot of games with WWII themes, and I’m afraid I might think it will be boring, because of the obvious difference in weapons. I like new weapons and features, as for example the red dot sight from CoD4.
CoD5 is scheduled for release this fall.
